Midsummer Dream - Painted Glass Window

The longest day of the year has been and gone and some bright spark said to me it's only six months to Christmas. Really, thanks. Anyway I thought it a good time to review how the year has gone so far. Have I stuck to my resolution made back in January? My promise to myself to manage my time better this year and be more productive on the art front?

Well looking back I seem to have started off well with a several pastel and oil pastel paintings. I did a few paintings with glass paints on acrylic sheet. I painted about four acrylic on canvas and have another waiting to be finished. Painting got put on the back burner when working for Artunes.

I did start an art journal and managed all of two pages one day!
Of course I recently painted the diptych of my son for the Healing Power of the Arts Exhibition. Every moment not ferrying my daughter around I spent painting that. I have been burning and painting picture frames and a tray.

I purchased some old glazed window frames earlier in the year and painted one - I have all kinds of ideas for the rest, should be fun!

Four Seasons PaintingPainted Window - Stained Glass Style

Each pane of the window represents a season. For spring I painted pearlised blossoms against a blue sky, I know better days are ahead when I see the blossom break out in my backyard! For Summer I painted a yacht on the water with a splendid sunset in the background. For Autumn I painted colourful leaves floating on puddles of rainwater swirls formed from drips off trees. Finally winter is represented by a bare tree, stark against the snow and wintry sky.

Well my "dream" or plan for midsummer is to get back on track and paint some more. I have all kinds of ideas I can't wait to hit the canvas with. This week's been a little hectic preparing for my daughter's graduation party tomorrow and an art show on Saturday at Canterbury Village.

Next week I am privileged to be the "Artist of the Month" for July at Orion Township Public library. If you are free pop along for a visit and see some of my paintings. Have a great weekend!
